F.A.Q.

  • Q: If the my disbursement date is on a weekend or holiday, when will I get my disbursement?
    • A: Your disbursement will be dated for the business day immediately before the weekend or holiday.
  • Q: What day are my benefits available?
    • A: That depends on which Social Security benefit you receive. All SSI (Supplemental Security Income) benefits are issued for the 1st of each month. All SSDI (Social Security Disability Income) benefits are issued for the 3rd of each month. SSA (retirement Benefits) may be issued based on your birth date; if you were born between the 1st and the 10th of the month then your benefits are issued on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, if you were born between the 11th and the 20th of the month then your benefits are issued on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, and if you were born between the 21st and the end of the month then your benefits are issued on the 4th Wednesday of each month.
  • Q: Why is the name Tsunami?
    • A: We firmly believe that life can be overwhelming at times and want to bring a “tidal wave” of good cheer to those we work with.
  • Q: What about emergency checks?
    • A: The idea of establishing a budget is to try to avoid emergency issues. Unfortunately, emergencies still happen. When an emergency arises, a check can be mailed via Priority Mail for which we charge whatever the current Postal Rates are for Priority Mail. Tsunami does not use Western Union or any other forms of instant money transfers.
  • Q: Why wasn’t my check in today’s mail?
    • A: We obviously rely heavily on the Post Office to deliver disbursements via paper checks, sometimes it takes the Post Office longer than expected to deliver the mail. Unfortunately, there is nothing Tsunami can do about postal delays. This is one of the reasons Tsunami has developed the ability to provide direct deposit to either your own personal checking account or to a 3rd party re-loadable debit card.
  • Q: How do I get my utility bills sent to Tsunami instead of my address?
    • A: You must contact each of your utility companies and change the mailing address to “Your Name”, PO Box 608, Ukiah, CA 95482.
  • Q: Why do I need to sign a Release Statement?
    • A: To some this may seem like an invasion of privacy but it is mainly used for dealing with debt collectors, utility companies and landlords.
  • Q: Can you send money via Direct Deposit?
    • A: Yes, you can get a Direct Deposit Agreement Form on the Forms page.
  • Q: Do you offer a Debit Card?
